Due to increased cases of pertussis (whooping cough) within the local community, YDHS is implementing several precautionary measures to protect the health and wellbeing of our residents, staff and visitors.

Effective immediately, all visitors entering the health service (including our aged care facilities) will be required to wear a face mask at all times while inside the facility. This requirement will remain in place for a minimum of two weeks, unless the local health authorities advise us that the risk has subsided during this period.

We understand that wearing a mask can be uncomfortable or an inconvenience, but these measures are crucial to minimising the risk of infection and ensuring the continued safety of our residents, staff and visitors. Pertussis can be particularly dangerous for older adults and those with compromised immune systems, and it’s essential we put in place measures to minimise the risk of infection.

Masks will be provided at the entrance of the facility.

Please also refrain from visiting if you are experiencing any cold or flu-like symptoms, or have been in contact with someone who has tested positive for pertussis.

We appreciate your cooperation and understanding as we work together to protect those in our care.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us on 5182 0222.
